Lake Wateree Presbyterian Church
Rev. Dr. Fran Bragan
Fran came to Lake Wateree Presbyterian Church in May 2006 to temporarily supply the pulpit for ten weeks while the current minister went on maternity leave. When the current minister decided to become a stay-at-home mother, Fran agreed to stay until another pastor was called. The weeks turned into months, the months into years, and September 28, 2008, Fran became our permanent Pastor.
After growing her four children into self-sufficiency, Fran returned to school and received a B.S. from Central Wesleyan University, and an M.Div. and D.Min, from Columbia Theological Seminary. She was ordained and installed in March 1997 as the chaplain of the Columbia Home (now Community) of Presbyterian Home of South Carolina. It was her joy to be able to fill pulpits for vacationing pastors around Trinity Presbytery which is what brought her to Lake Wateree. She continues to serve the Columbia Community as its chaplain. Additionally, when she can get there on time, she serves her husband, Dr. Michael Bragan, pastor of Providence Church, West Columbia, as his parish associate.
Fran and Michael have four married children and six grandchildren. She loves Edisto, boating, and her Lord -- who can take an ordinary person and accomplish something extraordinary. Who knew?!
